What a weekend! For the last three days i received a lot of positive tunes about the Qrofties, what is very important due to the fact that once i explained their usage, people went mad about the idea. Most of them said that they are way too cheap, and i had to realize that there where three things i did not calculated on the end price: the clams, the plastic bag and the individual print outs forcing me to recalculate everything from raw. Though i did not sold anything today, the idea of the "5sentidos" is absolutely nice and i am sure that the popularity of the event and the market itself will increase within the next weeks. The most important thing about these days for me was to realize how many people are into art on this island, considering the fact that down in the south where i live, most don't care about art because the base does not exist. I will change that within the next weeks. A lot. I have to.
I did not only changed my location but also some of the stickers content. The latter due to the fact that the "fuck" and "facebook my ass" stickers were at the height of a childs eye and a mother had to explain to her 6 year old daughter what the word "fuck" means. Nice to see how to find workarounds in explanation when the story with the "bees and flowers" don't fit.
After painting the whole QR code i woke up this morning by realizing that some parts were missing due to the fact that i painted this painting absoutely in a different technique than the other ones before. Had to correct some stuff within a few hours to pack everything up and drive up to Las Palmas. Once arrived i set up my small streetartish like market integration.
The first level of black for the "Mercado del Puerto" event called "5sentidos" is set up on the canvas. Now the sea green will be more and more added to adapt it to the structure of the building. All within one day - absolutely crazy.
The first two white levels are on the canvas. Before starting with the first level of sea green and black i will take some legal drugs called "fruits" in form of a liquid smoothie to enhance not only my sight but also my colorful point of view.
For the "5sentidos - Mercado del Puerto" event in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria i painted the first level of white over night and this morning i finished it. The lines are not as thick as i use to do it due to the fact that i do not have that amount of tme to make the paint dry.
The creators of the canarian local event magazine "La Brujula - ocio y cultura" got together with the president of an old and small market in Las Palmas that is about to be reanimated. In a part of Las Palmas where gentrification has not arrived yet, the Mercadoe del Puerto is going to celebrate its 125th aniversary next year. But there is a lot that has to be done around that area so the idea was to create a weekly event apart of the main duty going around that place. In the day time you can buy fruits and take advantage of services, while on the night time bars open their doors to offer tapas and beer.
New to this now is that whenever possible, the closed space whithin the market is going to be used for craftsmanship, art and culture. So the mentioned magazine searched for people who were able to participate in the first four days with their products or art within 48 hours - and i did.
My idea was to have all of my three art projects within the same space: QR code in acrylic, the sticers & Qrofties, and my "remember the .GIF" videoart. Today, i started with the painting.48 hours to go.
